Function of the nose

• The nasal cavity function is to warm, moisturise, and filter air entering the body before it reaches the lungs.
• Airflow through the nose begins at the entrance to the nostrils. As the air passes through the different structures in the nose, it causes turbulence.
• Alteration to any of these internal structures, such as excess mucus, can cause feelings of congestion.
