Function of the nose

The nasal cavity function is to warm, moisturise, and filter air entering the body before it reaches the lungs.
Airflow through the nose begins at the entrance to the nostrils. As the air passes through the different structures in the nose, it causes turbulence.
Alteration to any of these internal structures, such as excess mucus, can cause feelings of congestion.
