The ear is divided into 3 sections:

Outer Ear and ear canal help direct sound waves into ear
Middle Ear, ear drum and several tiny bones turn sound waves into vibrations.
Inner Ear receives the sound waves sent by middle ear

The ears are open to external environment and connected to the throat

A number of common problems can affect ears causing pain, discomfort and short term hearing loss
